Our police force is well equipped to handle any emergency situation, as well as to provide community education to prevent emergencies. As required for the protection of our citizens, we also work in conjunction with the Michigan State Police, Thumb Area Narcotics and Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department. Your safety is our number one concern.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The City of Lapeer Police Department will respect and uphold the public trust. Enforce the ordinances of the City of Lapeer, the laws of the State of Michigan and maintain social order. Provide effective programs and support services through Fair and Equitable law enforcement. Maintain a high standard of conduct while building community relationships with our Citizens, Customers and Business Owners.

The City of Lapeer Police department is dedicated to service for our Citizens, Customers and Business Owners. To obtain a high level of customer satisfaction the City of Lapeer Police Department adheres to the principal of hiring the most qualified, the most talented police officers and to providing continual updated training to these officers. Through continual officer training and effective customer service programs strong community bonds will be forged between the officers and those we have the privilege to serve.

The City of Lapeer Police Department shall:
- Provide prompt and professional lifesaving efforts to all persons, in all circumstances through the use of modern equipment and continual officer training.

Promote traffic safety, minimize vehicular accidents, preserve life and protect property.

Fairly enforce the ordinances of the City of Lapeer and the laws of the State of Michigan.

Provide updated programs and materials on crime prevention and safety concerns to our community partners.

Provide 24 – hour services to the citizens of the City of Lapeer.

Suppress criminal activity, investigate all crimes, arrest offenders and assist the victims of crimes.

Ensure that the citizens of the City of Lapeer receive the greatest benefit for monies expended for Police services.

Promote and accept citizen, customer and business owner involvement and input into the use of Police resources.
- Maintain an open forum for all to present any grievance or concern with Police services.
